just curious if you were looking at increasing the number of zoom levels. on my greyscale pda, i seen to be always flipping between 2 zoom levels, one too small and one too big.

This shoud not be a problem. I can do 2x, 3x, 4x... instead of doing 2x, 4x, 8x ..., but it may not help in your case (as I understand the image you are writing about is not very big and is not zooming out more than 2x).

I checked the code, it is already doing 1x increment/decrement for zooming I've been considering the use of Haar transformation for compression, that's where the 2x came from. Sorry for misinformation.
